Business and Computer Technology Program

The Business and Computer Technology Program at PCTI is structured to provide the knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to prepare students for employment in an office environment as a Computer Support Specialist, Medical Office Assistant, Computer Aided Draftsman, Administrative Assistant, Word Processor, and many other clerical positions. PCTI’s comprehensive program of theory combined with lab assignments and real world work experiences produce students who are thoroughly prepared to become knowledgeable, self-sufficient, and responsible employees in many business sectors. Students learn the latest computer technology and communications methods so that they are fully prepared to enter the workforce.

 

At PCTI, the focus is always on the student. We provide individual attention that students need to be successful in the program and beyond that includes tutoring, mentoring, and even achievement of a high school diploma. The field trips, job readiness, career counseling, and job placement assistance offered at PCTI allows each student to explore the career of their choice and locate positions available in their field.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this program is to provide intense occupational training in a wide range of comprehensive business and computer courses designed to prepare students for employment in intermediate to advanced business occupations. Students will learn to operate a computer efficiently, master business software programs, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, develop professional workplace skills, develop interviewing skills, and learn to conduct effective job search techniques. Graduates of this program will be prepared for employment in the following occupations:


OCCUPATIONS: Administrative Assistant, Word Processor, Administrative Supervisor, Customer Service Representative, Executive Secretary or Assistant, and Computer Help Desk Technician, and Bookkeeper in hospitals, law firms, small and large business and corporations, nonprofit organizations, public and private schools and universities, retail companies, and the airline industry.

 

PREREQUISITE: High School Diploma or GED or demonstrate ability to benefit by scoring a minimum of 200 verbal and 210 quantitative on the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test.
